Corstorphine
Dunstane's Hotels are located in the Corstorphine area of the city of Edinburgh.
Corstorphine was originally a separate village from Edinburgh, but the growth of the capital, means that it is now a western suburb. The A8, the former main road from Edinburgh to Glasgow, runs right through Corstorphine. The busy High Street (as distinct from St John's Road, the A8) contains many small, independent shops.
Corstorphine is an ideal base from which to explore Edinburgh. It is half way between the Airport and the city centre - easily close enough to explore the city centre on foot, but far enough away to ensure a relaxing break at either of Dunstane's two hotels.
The highest point on Corstorphine Hill is 162m above sea level and is of one Edinburgh's traditional seven hills, along with Castle Rock, Arthur's Seat, Calton Hill, Braid Hills, Blackford Hill and Craiglockhart Hill. The seven hills are used for spectacular city wide firework displays on Hogmanay. Corstorphine Hill Tower is a memorial to Sir Walter Scott.
Corstorphine is home to Edinburgh Zoo, one of Edinburgh's biggest attractions. Murrayfield Rugby Stadium and Ice Rink are also nearby, as is The Gyle shopping centre.
